So...what's the problem?

MJ, a character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man trilogy, is a character who comes under fire a lot. She is compared to Mary-Jane Watson, even though it was said they are not direct adaptations of each other. Even so, both the character and the actress deal with ridicule daily. I felt she was relevant due to the fact that even though she is partially an original character of the cinematic universe, people still find a way to compare and contrast to find reasons to dislike her.

This is a poster from the new The Little Mermaid movie which features Halle Bailey portraying the main character Ariel. In the photo, you can see she has red hair, but what people are now focusing on is the fact her hair is in locs. Another main subject of ridicule is the fact that people say her being black is too “woke” and not accurate and therefore makes the movie undeserving to watch in their eyes. This goes to show the many hurdles people will make the industry jump over to meet their standards. If this movie doesn’t do well due to the number of people who say they will boycott actually committing, then the entertainment industry will take it as a sign that they need to cater more to them.
