Throughout his presidency, Donald Trump tweeted about funding and building a border wall more frequently as he gained more support from his followers. After repeadly tweeting and making remarks that "othered" Mexican Americans and immigrants, Trump was able to justify building the southern border wall.

Trump was able to increase the anxiety he had already instilled and support the policies his government was attempting to accomplish by introducing the idea that Mexican Americans and immigrants pose a threat to the United States and its citizens into the mainstream media. Trump said that all Mexicans are dangerous as an entire population in order to justify erecting a border wall. Additionally, according to Trump, the drug issue in the country will be resolved by constructing a border wall. In order to frame Mexican immigrants as the only causes of the drug problem in the United States and to support the construction of the border wall, Trump portrays them as drug traffickers and criminals.
